All About Alice
All About Alice is a high-energy band from Lubbock, Texas, that delivers a fiery, crowd-shaking mix of southern rock, country, Americana, blues, and good ol’ rock and roll. As their tagline puts it: “You’re familiar with Fireball the drink? Well get ready to meet her in person!” (Or, in their social media words: “A little rock, a little country, and a whole lotta soul!”) Expect soulful vocals, tight grooves, and performances that get audiences dancing—sometimes with a theatrical twist, as the band has been known to bring dragons to the show for extra flair.
Formed in August 2020, the band got its start (and its name) at an Alice in Wonderland-themed open-mic night at Krank Koffie coffee shop in nearby Brownfield. Lead vocalist Katie Scholl (whose powerhouse voice draws from influences like Janis Joplin, Dolly Parton, Taylor Swift, and Annie Lennox) brought together childhood friends Jace Brooks (lead guitar) and Jack McClanahan (rhythm guitar, channeling Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson vibes) then added Josh McLean (drums) and Reina Garza (bassist). The rock band's lineup quickly became a local favorite, playing beloved covers alongside originals such as "Heroes," "Vigilante Road," "Spanish Eyes," and "Little Black Dress."
In 2022 they took first place at the Curry County 1st Annual Battle of the Bands in Clovis, NM, beating out four other acts and walking away with $3,000, a prize guitar, and a trophy—proof of their ability to win over crowds with both covers and original material. They’ve since performed at venues across West Texas (including Prima Vista, Texas 1809 in Slaton, White River Marina, Adventure Park, and more), opened shows, and recorded new music at Amusement Park Recording Studio. As of 2025–2026 the band remains active, energetic, and deeply rooted in the Lubbock music scene.
