MarioKart World Tournament
The Arc Light hosts the first ever MarioKart World Tournament on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026. Play starts at 8 p.m. on the largest video wall in San Angelo.

Event Overview
Join us for an epic Single Elimination 1v1 Mario Kart World Tournament on the Nintendo Switch 2! Duel head-to-head on our massive video wall. Entry fees fund the prizes—$10 per player, all cash pot!
- Registration: 7:00 PM - 7:30 PM (first come, first served)
- Tournament Start: 8:00 PM sharp
- Max Entrants: 16 players (perfect power-of-2 bracket for quick single elimination)
- Estimated End: 10 PM
- Spectators: Welcome! Enjoy bar specials while watching the duels.
Eligibility
- Must be 21 with valid ID (it's a bar—drink responsibly!).
- No prior bans from Nintendo events or cheating history.
- Players must arrive by registration deadline or forfeit spot.
Registration & Entry
- $10 cash only at the registration table. No refunds.
- Sign up on-site
- If >16 entrants: Top 16 by registration order advance; others waitlisted for byes/drop-ins.
Tournament Format
Single Elimination 1v1 Duels** (optimized for 2 controllers—one console).

Each Match (Rounds 1-Semi): Best of 3 races—first to 2 wins advances. Final & 3rd Place:** Best of 5 races—first to 3 wins.
Seeding: Random draw at 7 PM (or registration order if time short). Byes for uneven brackets.
Bracket: Live on video wall—winners announced immediately!

All duels use VS Race mode on Mario Kart World (Switch 2). 2 players only.

Tiebreakers
- Match Tie (e.g., 2-2 in Final): Sudden death single race on random track—highest finish wins.
- Race Tie: Most points across series; then sudden death lap.
Prizes
- 100% of entry pot paid out! (e.g., 16 players = $160 pot)
- 1st Place:** 60% (~$96)
- 2nd Place:** 25% (~$40)
- 3rd Place:** 15% (~$24)
Prizes announced post-registration. Bar tabs/swag bonuses possible!
Code of Conduct
- No cheating: Glitch abuse, disconnects, or hardware mods = instant DQ.
- Respect: No harassment, rage quitting, or screen blocking.
- Alcohol: Pace yourself—intoxicated players DQ'd for safety.
- Tournament Director (TD):Arc Light staff/venue mgmt. All decisions final.
- Forfeits: No-show = elimination; 2-min warning per race. 5-min match timeout.
